The Henne Group offers a full range of research, planning, and training services to clients from the public and private sectors. The company provides research services in two primary areas: qualitative studies and quantitative studies. Qualitative: Focus Groups THG recruits, manages and conducts close to 100 focus groups in an average year. Jeff Henne has been conducting focus groups for over 20 years for many different clients in the private and public sectors. Clients like the attention to detail given to each project, and the actionable recommendations. THG works with a number of independent moderators throughout the country to make sure that the correct moderator is matched with each job. Jeff Henne, and all moderators used by THG are listeners. One of the most difficult tasks faced by a moderator is the ability to know when to listen, and how to listen. There is nothing worse than a moderator who thinks it is more important to hear what they have to say, rather than to hear what the respondents want to say. By carefully listening, and looking for verbal and non-verbal clues, THG moderators give respondents the space to say what they are really thinking. Additionally, THG moderators know how to keep control of a group, and to keep it on track so that all subjects are covered by the time it is finished. In-Depth Interviews THG also conducts individual in-depth interviews. In the average year, THG recruits and conducts about 250-400 interviews with consumers, health care professionals, and business executives. Most often, in-depth interviews are conducted when the subject matter is extremely sensitive, or when it is important to "drill-down" on an individual basis. Cognitive Interviews THG is an expert in the field of cognitive interviewing. We have used cognitive interviewing techniques in hundreds of one-on-one interviews as well as focus groups to help refine questionnaires for many clients. Our practitioners are adept at teasing out hidden meanings and delivering as a final product a questionnaire that is universally understood by all respondents. These projects have been conducted for a number of clients across the university, government agency, and private industry sectors. Development of PRO Questionnaires A Patient-Reported Outcome (PRO) questionnaire is a measurement of any aspect of a patient's health status that comes directly from the patient (i.e., without the interpretation of the patient's responses by a physician or anyone else). In clinical trials, a PRO instrument can be used to measure the impact of an intervention on one or more aspects of patients' health status. Data generated by a PRO instrument can provide evidence of a treatment benefit from the patient perspective. In the last five years, The Henne Group has assisted in the design of several PRO instruments. In a typical project, we conduct many focus groups and dozens of in-depth interviews to determine what is relevant to patients before we design a questionnaire. Once the questionnaire has been designed, we then conduct further qualitative research as well as one or two quantitative validity studies to further determine what works and what doesn't work. We usually start with a "blank slate," design a questionnaire with upward of 100 questions, winnow this questionnaire down for testing in the validity studies, and end up with a questionnaire with anywhere from 10 to 20 items. Transcription Services Working with over a dozen experienced transcribers throughout the United States, THG can transcribe your focus group interviews or in-depth interviews. Our transcriptions are checked for quality assurance and are priced at competitive and affordable rates. We work with all languages. Usability Testing Usability test interviews range in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of the website, and what stage of development it is in. Oftentimes interviews are videotaped using picture-in-picture technology, so that clients have a final tape that shows not only the participant, but also the exact page and mouse movements that they are making. THG has conducted usability tests in most major U.S. markets. By working closely with testing labs in these locations, as well as picture-in-picture specialists, THG assures that your project is done on time and on budget - and that you get the results that you need. We can deliver topline reports or PowerPoint reports incorporating the web pages themselves with actionable recommendations. THG understands that "Internet" time is fast . Usability projects can be put together quickly, and final reports are often issued within a week of the last interview, offering clear and specific recommendations that delineate our findings. Quantitative: Telephone Surveys THG has been conducting telephone surveys with many different types of populations for over 20 years. Surveys range from short to long, simple to complex. Although THG is especially adept at designing and administering questionnaires with complex skip patterns administered to diverse and hard-to-reach populations, it can also do more "routine" surveys as well. We have a 20-station telephone room in San Francisco using Sawtooth Technologies computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) software, and have working relationships with several other partners throughout the United States if more stations are needed. Self-Administered Surveys Be it a mall-intercept study or a face-to-face interview, THG can manage your project - either big or small.
