Bringing Voices to the Unheard in Underserved Communities

THG remains steadfast in its commitment to amplifying the voices of underserved communities, recognizing the importance of inclusivity in discussions that shape public health and policy. Over the past year, a notable pharmaceutical company reached out to THG with a specific request: to recruit and facilitate focus groups tailored for transgender individuals. The aim was to gauge their awareness and understanding of the various medical, surgical, and cosmetic options available to them as they navigate their personal transition journeys. This initiative not only highlights the need for targeted outreach and education within the transgender community but also underscores THG's dedication to ensuring that these individuals are well-informed about the resources and support systems that can aid them during such a significant period in their lives. By actively engaging with this community, THG seeks to foster a more inclusive dialogue that respects and prioritizes the unique experiences and needs of transgender individuals.

In addition to this vital work, THG’s Wyoming division, Waller Hall Research, has been making strides in understanding and addressing local issues that affect the residents of Wyoming. Recently, they collaborated with Data for Progress, a research organization known for its commitment to progressive policy analysis, to gather insights on the opinions of Wyomingites regarding critical topics such as statewide infrastructure and energy consumption. This collaboration was particularly significant as it aimed to capture the diverse perspectives of residents, which are essential for informing future initiatives and policies that impact the community. The findings from this research were prominently featured in an article titled, “A first-of-its-kind carbon capture facility is coming to the Mountain West. What do residents think?”. This article not only presented the research findings but also sparked an important conversation about the implications of new technologies on local environments and economies, emphasizing the necessity for community involvement in discussions about energy solutions and sustainability. Through these efforts, THG demonstrates its ongoing commitment to fostering informed community engagement and ensuring that the voices of all residents are heard and valued in critical decision-making processes.
